Kylie Chrustowski is a certified orthoptist who works alongside Dr. Gappy to care for patients at Central Eye Care. As physician extenders, orthoptists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of binocular vision problems including strabismus (eye misalignment), amblyopia (“lazy eye”), and diplopia (double vision). She is an active member of the AACO (American Association of Certified Orthoptists) and frequently attends continued education meetings to stay up-to-date on current patient care practices.
Kylie is a 2017 graduate of the Ross Eye Institute Orthoptics Fellowship in Buffalo, New York. During her two years of training, she saw a wide variety of patients and conditions under the supervision of four pediatric ophthalmologists, three orthoptists, and one optometrist. She was the 2017 recipient of the Richard G. Scobee Memorial Award, awarded to the orthoptic student who earns the highest cumulative score on national board examinations for that year. Prior to her orthoptic training, Kylie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Ferris State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Outside of work, Kylie enjoys spending time with her husband and their Bernedoodle, Wrangler. She and her family like to go kayaking, hiking, and taking windy Jeep rides in the summer. Originally from west Michigan, she is excited to now call Metro Detroit home.
